November 25, 2020The spooky season is upon us! Sure, 2020 has already been a scarier year than anyone could have predicted, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t celebrate Halloween! Albeit social distanced.
This year’s Halloween is extra special! Not only does it fall on a Saturday, not only is it the same night the clocks go back an hour, it’s also a full moon! That’s right, people. We have a triple threat Halloween on our hands!
Here are a few goings on in West Kelowna to help you get into the ‘spirit’ of things:
Trick or Treat!
Yes, we know, it seems obvious, but this year things are different and there have been a lot of parents questioning whether trick or treating should happen. Rather than discouraging trick or treating, the BC Centre for Disease Control has released guidelines to help keep everyone safe and healthy:
- Respect homes by staying away if the lights are out.
- Keep to your local neighbourhood this year.
- Avoid trick-or-treating in busy areas or indoors (in places like malls) since there may not be enough space to distance. Indoor spaces may require a non-medical mask or face covering.
- Trick-or-treat in a small social group, stick to six people.
- Leave space between you and other groups to reduce crowding on stairs and sidewalks.
- Wash your hands before you go out, when you get home, and before eating treats.
- Keep hand sanitizer with you if eating treats on the go.
- You don’t need to clean every treat. You should instead wash your hands after handling treats and not touch your face.
Truck ’59 Ciderhouse Pumpkin Carving Contest

- Voting will take place on October 31st

Kalala Organic Estate Winery
This is more for the ‘older’ kids, but fun nevertheless. Take a photo of yourself in your Halloween costume while holding a bottle of Kalala wine and you could win a gift card! Here’s how you can do it!
1) Take a photo of you and/or your friends in Halloween costumes with Kalala wines (You can also dress up the Kalala wine bottle if you prefer not to be in the photo!).
2) Post the photo on Instagram, include the hashtag #halloweenwithkalala, and tag @kalalawines
You’ve got until October 31st at 11:59 pm to enter! Not sure where to get a bottle of Kalala wine? We suggest their winery at 3361 Glencoe Rd.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!
