July 24, 2020Fruit season is in full swing in the Okanagan valley, which means fresh fruit is available in West Kelowna thanks to an abundance of fruit orchards in our local community. We outline some our favourite places where you can pick your own fruit:
PAYNTERS FRUIT MARKET
Where: 3687 Paynter Rd, West Kelowna
About: The Paynter family has been in Westbank for several generations and has one of the most popular fruit stands in the area. Paynters market is a great place to visit for locally grown produce, to pick your own fruit, enjoy an ice cream, or simply sit and enjoy the orchard setting.
GRIFFIN FARMS
Where: 3344 Elliott Rd, West Kelowna
About: This local family farm has deep roots in the West Kelowna community. They have a great selection of fruit available for picking including pears, plums, nectarines, peaches, and more. They also sell fresh product directly from their farm.
WESTBANK HARVEST
Where: 2654 Scharf Rd, West Kelowna
About: Westbank harvest is another local place where you can purchase fruits including apples, pears, peaches, cherrys, sour cherries, and more. It’s usually best to call ahead to see what’s available and in season.
BASSWOOD HONEY FARM (no website)
Where: 3160 Elliott Rd, Westbank
About: Okay, so while this isn’t a ‘pick your own fruit’ place, it’s certainly worth mentioning. Located just around the corner from Paynters Fruit Market you can find Basswood Farms. Their honey and related products are absolutely delicious. Be sure to stop by for a taste!
