Here are seven must-try hikes in West Kelowna — and a practical tip for each to make the most of your adventure!

1. Bear Creek Falls
This moderate 2.6-kilometer loop trail in Bear Creek Provincial Park offers lush vegetation, scenic bridges, and a picturesque waterfall that’s a photographer’s dream. The trail weaves along the rim of a canyon, offering dramatic views and the soothing sound of rushing water. It's an ideal spot for a quick hike or a scenic picnic beneath the bridge.
2. Glen Canyon Greenway
Spanning 3.9 kilometers, this easy to moderate trail runs alongside Powers Creek, providing a serene environment perfect for families and casual hikers. The sound of water, shaded areas, and occasional wildlife sightings make this one of the most peaceful trails in West Kelowna. Be prepared for some stairs at the south end of the trail.


3. Carrot Mountain
Located near Shannon Lake and close to Tallus Ridge, this challenging 4.7-kilometer trail features a steep incline that takes you through dense forest, rocky slopes, and finally to one of the best viewpoints in the area. The summit offers an unbeatable panoramic view, especially in late spring when the wildflowers are in bloom. It’s a local favorite for serious hikers.
4. Mount Boucherie
Offering several trails of varying difficulty, the Eain Lamont loop is a 5.6-kilometer path leading to panoramic views of the Okanagan Valley. The trail winds through volcanic rock formations and dry grasslands, making it both geologically fascinating and visually stunning. It’s a moderately challenging hike that rewards you with 360-degree vistas at the top.


5. City on the Edge of Forever
This 8.5-kilometer challenging trail takes you past the Rose Valley Reservoir, featuring a stone archway, steep switchbacks, and breathtaking vistas that unfold as you climb. The route is lined with ponderosa pine and wild sage, immersing you in the natural beauty of the Okanagan. The steep inclines culminate in a rewarding viewpoint at the top that makes the climb worthwhile.
6. Blue Grouse Mountain

The trail ascends steadily through forested terrain and open slopes, eventually reaching a summit that offers views stretching from Vernon to Penticton. 7. Hayman Lake Loop
The longest on our list at 14.7 kilometers, this difficult hike begins with a strenuous ascent before leveling out towards Hayman Lake. The trail offers a mixture of forested sections and sweeping open vistas, making it one of the most scenic and rewarding long-distance hikes in the region.
